Build & live In your own igloo

4,995 SEK per person
2,498 SEK for children under 12

Travel by either dog sled or snowmobile to the wilderness camp. When you arrive, your guide will instruct you on how to build your own igloo to sleep in.

You will be served a hot lunch in the warm camp, and then continue with your igloo, which takes about 4-5 hours (2 person igloo). Once your igloo is ready, we will start with dinner and then move on to relaxing with a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits. Then it's time to get comfortable in your igloo, where the temperature remains around a comfortable minus 3-5 degrees, even if the temperature drops much lower outside. The sleeping bags you'll be using will keep you warm down to minus 30 degrees, so you'll stay cosy and warm all night.

Due to weather and snow conditions, we always have a number of igloos prepared that are not yet finished, but can be used to complete an igloo for the night. Snow must freeze before it can be used.

Safety and procedures

At Jukkasjärvi Wilderness Tours we strive to deliver unique nature experiences without compromising on safety or quality. Our goal is to create a safe environment for all participants, whether building and living in igloos, participating in ski tours or snowshoeing through the Arctic wilderness. With over 35 years of experience in safety work from the defense forces, our founder Mats Rullander has developed safety procedures that are deeply integrated into our operations.

Security procedures and preparations

Every activity starts with careful preparation to ensure that everything is in top condition. Our guides are well trained and undergo annual safety trainings that include CPR, winter survival and ice skills. Before a tour begins, we go over detailed safety instructions with participants to minimize risks and provide a safe experience for all. Participants are provided with the right equipment, including warm clothing, first-class skis or snowshoes and other necessary equipment to cope with the Arctic conditions.

Continuous checks and high quality

To maintain our high standards, we carry out weekly internal checks and external inspections of our facilities and procedures. Everything is carefully documented, from minor incidents to major insights, to ensure we are constantly improving. Our philosophy is simple: nothing must happen. This permeates everything from customer safety to staff and animal welfare.

Jukkasjärvi Wilderness Tours boasts a team of professional guides with a combined 196 years of experience. Our guides have not only solid training, but also in-depth local knowledge and the ability to handle challenges in Arctic environments. With this background, you can rest assured that our tours are in safe hands.

A safe and memorable experience

With our carefully designed procedures and high safety standards, you can enjoy our build and live in igloo tours, ski tours and snowshoe tours without having to worry about safety. We combine our expertise with passion to create unforgettable experiences in the Arctic wilderness, always with the safety of the participants at the forefront.
